How do you overcome these obstacles to your success?
Fear prevents us from doing things that are too risky, which is a good thing. But if fear prevents you from doing something that is necessary, then that means fear is in control and not you. In day trading, this fear takes the form of being unwilling to take a winning trade because of the fear of losing money.
Greed is the opposite of fear. Greed makes us do things we won’t do in normal circumstances. In day trading greed can take the form of making random trades, after your system kept you on a winning streak. It can make you hold a position longer when your system is telling you not to, because you want more profits.
In a battle situation both paralysis and over-eagerness can kill. This also happens in day trading.
Fear and greed can be overcome by having confidence – confidence in your capability to make the right decisions. You gain confidence through practice. In day trading practice means making paper trades. You gain confidence when your paper trades yield you paper profits… which will happen often if you apply the winning system you learned from a successful trader.
Of course the real test will come in actual trading. But if you’ve learned your system and applied it consistently through practice you’ll be ready. You’ll be confident with your trading moves and take your profits at the right time.
